I WANT TO STUDY IN 2017. WHEN CAN I ENROL?

WHAT STUDY OPTIONS ARE AVAILABLE?
At Careers Australia, we offer a variety of different study options. You can study on campus, online, in a workplace, as blended delivery (a combination of all the study modes) or FlexLearn.

WHAT IS VET FEE-HELP?
VET FEE-HELP is a student loan scheme funded by the Commonwealth Government, available to students who commenced study prior to 31 December, 2016. Students who commence study from 1 January, 2017, will have access to the new VET Student Loans program.
WHAT IS THE VET STUDENT LOANS PROGRAM?
The VET Student Loans program will replace the VET FEE-HELP scheme from 1 January 2017.
This is a new vocational education and training (VET) student loans program, provided to give eligible students access to quality higher level VET qualifications, particularly to those students who could not otherwise afford to pay upfront.

I AM ALREADY STUDYING WITH CAREERS AUSTRALIA. WHAT DOES THE NEW LOANS PROGRAM MEAN FOR ME?
If you commenced your course before 31 December 2016, you will continue your studies under the VET FEE-HELP scheme throughout 2017. However, it is vital for you to ‘opt-in’ with the Department of Education and Training by 31 March 2017 to continue studying. Refer to the top of the page for more information.
WHAT IF MY COURSE RUNS PAST THE END OF 2017? WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR MY COURSE FEES AND VET LOAN?
Existing students who;
- commenced in VET courses prior to 1 January 2017,
- have already received VET FEE-HELP assistance for units of those courses, and
- remain enrolled in those courses with their original provider;
will be given the opportunity to continue their studies under the existing VET FEE-HELP arrangements for units with census dates to 31 December 2017.
It is vital that all students who enrolled in a course before 31 December 2016 complete the VET FEE-HELP opt-in process by 31 March 2017 and return the confirmation letter to us via email@example.com as soon as possible.

In certain circumstances some students may be eligible to extend their VET FEE-HELP assistance beyond 1 January 2018. Such circumstances may include, for example, illness or caring responsibilities, or part-time students.
Students will need to apply to continue using VET FEE-HELP for their existing course beyond 2017 and applications will be considered on a case-by-case basis by the Department of Education and Training.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CERTIFICATE AND A DIPLOMA?
The difference between a Certificate and a Diploma is the level of learning you undertake.

DO I NEED TO PAY A STUDENT CONTRIBUTION?
If your course commenced before 31 December 2016, there will be no change to your course costs or any extra payments.
Under the new VET Student Loans program, eligible students will be entitled for loans up to a capped amount. This amount varies depending on the course you choose to study.
In some cases, the course costs may be higher than the VET Student Loan cap, meaning that students will have to cover the difference. For more information on payment options or the new loan scheme, contact us on 1300 737 153.
IF THERE IS A STUDENT CONTRIBUTION REQUIRED, ARE THERE PAYMENT OPTIONS?
You may not have to pay the student contribution upfront- we may have payment plans or other options available. Check the Funding & Loans section of the website for more information, or give us a call on 1300 737 153.
THE COURSE I WANTED TO STUDY IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE? WHY?
In response to the new VET Student Loans program, we have made some changes to our course offerings.

DOES CAREERS AUSTRALIA ASSIST ME WITH FINDING EMPLOYMENT AFTER I HAVE COMPLETED MY COURSE?
Our Career Development Program teaches you interview skills, how to write your CV, and gives you workplace hints and tips.
HOW DO I FIND OUT ABOUT APPRENTICESHIPS OR TRAINEESHIPS?

HOW DO I GET HELP WITH MY STUDIES?
If you are struggling with any aspect of your course or studies, then the best place to start is with your trainer. We offer holistic Student Support Services at all of our campuses and online study support for all of our online or FlexLearn students, so if your trainer can't help you themselves, then they will be able to direct you to someone who can.
HOW DO I MAKE A COMPLAINT?
If you are unhappy with any aspect of your studies or student experience, then you should try to discuss this with your educator in private. If the issue involves your educator, or you aren't comfortable discussing it with them, then you are welcome to reach out to our Student Services or Student Support staff. We hope that you are able to resolve any issues with these campus staff directly, but if all else fails you can lodge a formal complaint. I THINK I AM ENTITLED TO A REFUND - HOW DO I FIND OUT MORE?

WHAT DO I NEED TO APPLY FOR A COURSE?
To get started you will need to provide us with some basic information about yourself, such as a current phone number and email address, and your residential address. You will also need to supply your Tax File Number and a copy of your birth certificate, Australian passport or Citizenship certificate to access most sources of Government funding and loans.
WILL I RECEIVE CONFIRMATION OF MY ENROLMENT?
Once your application has been approved, our Student Services team will mail or email a formal confirmation of enrolment. This correspondence will confirm the course and intake that you have enrolled into and outline other key information such as the start date, campus address and any applicable census dates.
WHERE ARE THE CAREERS AUSTRALIA CAMPUSES IN MY AREA?

I HAVE ATTENDED AN OPEN DAY AND COMPLETED A SKILLS ASSESSMENT - WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
Our educators and admission staff work hard to ensure that you receive your results as soon as possible. If you have not received any feedback or further information from us within 3 days of completing your Skills Indicator, then please give us a call on 1300 887 696.
WHEN DO COURSES START?
Courses start throughout the year. You won’t have to wait until a new semester – you can start on the next available course. Most online and FlexLearn courses are available to commence every week.
WHEN DO I FIND OUT ABOUT MY TIMETABLE?
Timetable information is sent to you when you enrol in your program. You can always get information about room changes or things happening at your campus through the campus Facebook page or on our website.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING ON MY FIRST DAY?
There are plenty of places to eat around most of our campuses, but it’s a good idea to bring some food along for your first day while you get your bearings. All course and class related materials will be supplied when you arrive, so you don't need to worry about much else!
